ANTALYA: With its beautiful beaches and an ideal climate, Antalya is a popular holiday resort both for Turkish and foreign visitors. Taurus Mountains, rising from the sea in a jumbled succession of fairy-tale peaks to a height of just over 3.000 m., they dominate a landscape more austere than that of the Aegean and Turquoise costs. Still standing on the cliffs which surround Antalya are the ancient city walls and ramparts built by the Greeks. In town stands the 13th century Alaeddin Mosque and Hadrian’s Gate which was built in honor of the Emperor’ visit in 130 AD. In the heart of the city, the pretty yacht harbor huddles below the Roman walls and, behind the new buildings, the crescent of Konyaalti Bay curves to the industrial harbor 10 km west of the city.
